Building digital confidence and helping people move towards work

Many job applications, appointments and everyday services now require digital skills. UAA helps people who lack confidence, equipment, literacy support or familiarity with UK recruitment processes to take practical steps forward.

  • Computer access and basic digital skills.
  • Email and online forms.
  • CV preparation and updating.
  • Job searches and online applications.
  • Interview preparation and mock interviews.
  • Help registering with employment agencies.
  • Signposting to training, qualifications and employment opportunities.

From rough sleeping to a senior care role

OR came to UAA after losing work and becoming homeless. She joined the Job Club and received support with her CV, interview preparation and IT skills. After several weeks of regular participation she secured a senior carer role. The stability of work helped her move forward from crisis, and she now encourages other people facing similar difficulties to use the support available.

From doorways to a room of his own

TC was unemployed, struggled with reading and written English and had been sleeping in shop and church doorways. UAA helped with CVs, applications and registrations with employment agencies. A temporary Royal Mail role gave him enough income to pay for a room in a shared house; with further support he later moved into warehouse work.

Returning to office work

SA had been laid off from an administrative role and felt left behind by newer office technology. Through UAA’s Job Club she updated her CV, practised office software, learned how to use LinkedIn and improved her interview confidence. She secured an administrative support role within two months.
