Football that brings people together

UAA’s Saturday football sessions are informal, social and open to people who want to be active without needing to join a competitive club. Players meet for regular games that provide exercise, friendship, routine and a positive use of free time.

For some participants, football becomes part of a much wider support network. One young man who was rough sleeping and using UAA’s warm space began helping with UAA’s food-support activities, joining the community lunch and taking an active role in Saturday football. The activity gave him regular contact with people at a time when he was otherwise extremely isolated.
