United African Association (UAA)

Who We Support

Support shaped around people and the barriers they face

UAA’s activities are open to people from a wide range of backgrounds. We have particular experience supporting people who may be underserved, newly arrived, socially isolated or finding it difficult to navigate services independently.

  • African communities and people from wider migrant backgrounds living in Northamptonshire.
  • Refugees and asylum seekers, including people with very limited income or little knowledge of local systems.
  • Individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, debt, housing problems or other welfare concerns.
  • People with no recourse to public funds, where support is within UAA’s remit and appropriate referral pathways are available.
  • People who are homeless, sleeping rough, sofa surfing, in insecure accommodation or at immediate risk of homelessness.
  • Women who benefit from culturally safe or women-only activities.
  • Young people and families who need safe, affordable and positive activities.
  • Older people who are isolated or disconnected from services and community networks.
  • People experiencing digital exclusion or barriers to employment.

We often meet people at a point of crisis, but our aim is not to keep them dependent on crisis support. Where possible, we help people move towards greater stability, independence, confidence and connection.
