Keeping people safe

UAA is committed to creating safe, respectful and inclusive services for children, young people and adults. Safeguarding is part of how we plan activities, recruit and support volunteers, respond to concerns and work with specialist agencies.

• Staff and volunteers are expected to understand how to recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
• Activities involving children, young people or adults at risk are planned with appropriate supervision and risk assessment.
• DBS checks are used for roles where they are required and appropriate.
• UAA maintains safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
• Where a concern requires specialist or statutory intervention, UAA follows appropriate referral and escalation procedures.
• Confidentiality is respected, but information may be shared when necessary to protect someone from harm.

If you have a safeguarding concern connected with a UAA activity, contact UAA and tell us that you need to raise a safeguarding concern. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. UAA is not an emergency service.
