WELLBEING ACTIVITIES

Supporting Mental, Emotional and Physical Wellbeing

At the United African Association (UAA), we provide safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces where people can connect with others, feel supported and take part in activities that improve their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

We understand that loneliness, isolation, stress and difficulties adjusting to life in a new community can have a real impact on people’s health. Our wellbeing activities are designed to help people feel more connected, build confidence and improve their overall quality of life.

What We Offer

Our wellbeing programme includes a range of activities such as:

  • Wellbeing sessions covering topics including mental health, healthy relationships, parenting, cancer awareness, dementia and other health issues.
  • Women-only swimming sessions, providing a safe and supportive environment for women to become confident in the water and learn to swim.
  • Aerobics and physical activity to encourage people to stay active and improve their fitness.
  • Community walks offering gentle exercise, fresh air and opportunities to socialise.
  • Community lunches where people can enjoy a meal together, meet new people and build friendships.
  • Welcoming spaces where people can have a hot drink, talk to others, access support and spend time in a friendly environment.
  • Social and cultural activities, including music, drumming, dancing and community events.

A Place to Connect

Our activities are about more than keeping active. They give people opportunities to make friends, reduce isolation, share experiences and feel part of the community.

Many people who come to UAA may be experiencing loneliness, language barriers, financial difficulties or challenges accessing services. Our team and volunteers provide a friendly environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Everyone Is Welcome

Our wellbeing activities support people from different backgrounds and communities, including older people, families, refugees, migrants and anyone who may be feeling isolated or in need of additional support.

You do not need to face challenges alone. Whether you would like to improve your health, meet new people, learn something new or simply spend time in a welcoming environment, UAA is here for you.
