United African Association (UAA)

UAA Walking Initiative

The UAA walking initiative was started as a means to promote healthy lifestyle habits among members of the community with whom we primarily engage. In line with the messaging of the initiative’s major sponsor “SportEngland”, we primarily focus on getting members of the community to be much more invested in actual movement and the various benefits that come with it.
The initiative to promote walking amongst members of the community has also come with an advantageous viewpoint of bringing people together who might have been feeling isolated and encouraging socialisation amongst the lovely people who attend the walks. Also, adopting the factor of it being a weekly event, the effects can snowball into lifelong relationships and  friendships and subsequently improvement in quality of life.
UAA has always been community-focused and intentional in bridging the resource gap that can exist between members of our community and the governing institutions. The walking initiative is one way that visible results mentally, socially, physically can benefit members of the community directly.
The walks take place at Northampton’s Racecourse on Saturday afternoons at 2pm. There is no fee to participate.
